NOPD Arrests Suspect in Armed
Robbery
NEW ORLEANS – The NOPD arrested Rahkym
Richardson (DOB: 08-13-1992) in connection with an armed robbery that occurred
on November 6, 2017 at the intersection of Vespasian Boulevard and Cypress
Acres Drive.
On the date
in question, a cab driver was dispatched to the 3600 block of General Degaulle
Drive to pick up a customer named “Bella”. Once at the location, the driver was
instructed by “Bella” to drive to the intersection of Vespasian Boulevard and
Cypress Acres Drive. When the cab reached the destination, “Bella” reportedly produced
a long silver knife and demanded money from the driver. The driver complied,
and the subject exited the cab and fled on foot in an unknown direction.
As investigation
into the incident progressed, detectives were able to positively identify the
subject as Richardson, who was reportedly dressed as a female at the time of
the incident and goes by the name of “Bella” when dressed in female attire.
Upon
locating the subject during a reported domestic incident, officers noticed that
Richardson reportedly showed signs of a psychotic breakdown. Richardson was transported
to an area hospital for treatment. Upon release from the hospital, NOPD
officers arrested Richardson and booked him into the Orleans Parish Justice
Center on a charge of armed robbery with a knife.
