Suspect Wanted in Aggravated Assault Incidents on General Ogden Street
NEW ORLEANS – The
NOPD has obtained arrest warrants for Johnelle Battle (DOB: 08-13-1977) in
connection with two aggravated assault incidents that occurred on September 23,
2017 in the 1300 block of General Ogden Street.
At about 5:30 p.m., the male victim told police that he
answered the door of his home in the area to observe two subjects arguing
outside of his residence. The victim said one of the subjects, whom he only
knew as “Johnelle,” begin to use profane language toward him. During the
exchange, the victim said, the subject told another unknown subject to retrieve
his gun from a nearby residence. After reportedly obtaining a gun, the subject
then allegedly threatened to shoot the victim, at which time the victim
reportedly returned inside his residence. Police were contacted, and the
subject was later identified as Battle.
While investigating the incident, a witness told officers
that Battle, whom she described as her boyfriend, allegedly pointed a gun at
her during an exchange that occurred earlier that day at about 1 p.m. The
witness told police that she and Battle were arguing when Battle allegedly
become angry and then reportedly pointed a gun at her and threatened to kill
her. The victim said she was afraid at the time to call police.
