Arrested Minutes after Burglarizing Jewelry store next to Police Station
NEW ORLEANS – Eighth District officers
quickly arrested Donovan Griffin and Zachariah Woodruff earlier today (Dec. 11) after
they were seen burglarizing the jewelry store next to the Eighth District
police station.
At
around 12:37 a.m., two detectives were inside the Eighth District station on Royal
Street when they suddenly heard someone breaking glass. Seconds later, a
citizen ran inside the station to let officers know that two men were breaking
into David’s Antiques and Jewelry store in the 300 block of Royal Street.
Detectives
were able to apprehend Griffin and Woodruff after they were trying to run down Bienville Street. Officers located about $10,000 worth of jewelry, a
crowbar and two hammers on both suspects.
Woodruff
and Griffin were transported to CLU and booked for simple burglary.
