Nix Renovation Information:

Nix Library will temporarily close for renovations beginning on Saturday, October 15 at the close of business (5pm).

 

A few of the items included in the renovation include:

  • Painting
  • Plaster repair
  • New lighting
  • Landscaping
  • New staff area
  • Floor replacement
  • Plumbing and electrical


Book holds:

Nix is no longer listed as a location for holds, but will be accepting items already scheduled for hold through the October 15 close date.

 

Any holds still on Nix's hold shelf on October 15 will be moved to Latter Library.

 

The nearest Library locations to the Nix location are:

  • Keller Library (Broadmoor) – 1.9 miles
  • Latter Library (Uptown) – 2.5 miles
  • Children’s Resource Center Library – 3.4 miles
  • Central City Library (Central City) – 3.4 miles


Re-opening:

Renovation work will occur through the end of the year, with a re-opening scheduled for early Spring 2017. 

 

An official opening date will be announced as soon as possible.

 

Mid-City Closing Information:

 

Mid-City Library will cease operations at 3700 Orleans Avenue on Saturday, October 22 at the close of business (5pm).

 

Book holds:

Mid-City will continue to accept items for hold until Friday, October 14.

 

Any holds still on Mid-City's hold shelf on October 14 will be moved to Smith Library.

 

The nearest Library locations to the current Mid-City location are:

  • Main Library (CBD) – 2.3 miles
  • Keller Library (Broadmoor) – 2.5 miles
  • Smith Library (Lakeview) – 2.8 miles
  • Norman Mayer Library (Gentilly) – 3.2 miles


Re-opening: 

Preparations at the new Mid-City location (4140 Canal Street) are in progress, and the new location should open by late November 2016.

 

An official opening date will be announced as soon as possible.
