MAYOR LANDRIEU TO GIVE WELCOME REMARKS AT WEFTEC 2016
NEW ORLEANS – TOMORROW, Mayor Mitch Landrieu will
give welcome remarks at the opening session of WEFTEC 2016, the Water
Environment Federation’s 89th Annual Technical Exhibition and Conference being
held Sept. 24-28, 2016 at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center. WEFTEC, which includes more than 20,000 participants, is the
world’s largest annual water quality event and provides the latest
developments, technologies and services for water preservation, restoration and
sustainability.
During WEFTEC
2014, the Mayor Landrieu joined the GE Foundation to announce a $1.5 million grant to support Delgado
Community College’s ongoing efforts to train certified water infrastructure
personnel to work at the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans.
In his remarks
tomorrow, Mayor Landrieu will recognize the first graduates
of Delgado’s Water Infrastructure Personnel Training Program and highlight the
importance of repairing and upgrading New Orleans’ aging infrastructure and
jobs it will create.
