NOPD Offers Additional Police Recruit Testing Times
NEW ORLEANS— In
an effort to continue to improve and streamline the application process for
potential police recruits, the NOPD has announced additional walk-in testing
options.
Applicants can now take the NOPD’s Civil Service test on
Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 4:45 p.m.
“We wanted to make it easier for working men and women to be
able to take the test and get them started in the process,” said NOPD
Superintendent Michael Harrison. “By offering evening testing options, it will
help make the application process more accessible. We are committed to doing whatever we
can to make it more efficient and to attract the best and the
brightest candidates to join NOPD.”
Those interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement
with the NOPD can complete the first step of the process by submitting an
application via www.JoinNOPD.org. Step
two is taking the in-person multiple choice exam and written test at the Civil
Service Department offices (1340 Poydras Street, Suite 900). The test is also
offered every Monday through Friday at 9:30 a.m., excluding major holidays.
Applicants are required to bring a valid driver’s license
with them to take the test. Proof of high school graduation or equivalent is
preferred, but not required. Testing takes 4-5 hours, so candidates should park
in long term parking. An application completed in advance is helpful – available at www.JoinNOPD.org – but not required.
