Surveillance Video Released in Murder on Morrison Road

NEW ORLEANS – The NOPD’s Homicide Division has obtained new surveillance video of a suspect believed to be responsible for the murder of 23-year-old Louis Perrette on September 14, 2016, in the 8700 block of Morrison Road.

At about 5 p.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of a vehicle fire in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered a burning vehicle located in a grassy area off of Morrison Road alongside a canal. New Orleans Fire Department personnel responded and extinguished the fire, at which time the body of an unidentified male was found inside of the vehicle. Upon further investigation, detectives determined a homicide had occurred.

In the video, which can be viewed at https://youtu.be/PktP_EUxySw, an individual can be seen setting a fire inside of the vehicle and being hit by the flames himself, possibly suffering injury. Authorities discovered the vehicle afire and discovered the body of a male victim inside, which was later found to have suffered a gunshot wound to the head. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office later identified the victim as Perrette.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing. No further information is available at this time.

Anyone with information regarding this incident or the subject in the video, who possibly may have sought treatment for burns at an area hospital, is asked to call NOPD Homicide Detective Clinton Givens at 504-658-5300.
