Between April 10 - 13, 2023 the Baker Fire Department participated in an active shooter training at Central Private School along with Central Fire Department, Zachary Power Department, Saint George Fire Appointment, District 6 Fire Appointments, the East Baton Rouge Sheriffs Office, and East Baton Rouge Parish EMS.
An "active shooter event" is an event involving one or more suspects who participate in an ongoing, random, or systematic shooting spree, demonstrating the intent to harm and murder others.
The need for local fire, law enforcement, and emergency agencies to deploy an integrated set of protocols invoving the common tactical plans, common communications capabilities and a common lexicon for seamless, effective operations is vital to protecting the public.
Our local fire, emergency and law enforcement agencies have establised standard operating procedures to deal with these dangerous scenarios. We thank them for taking the steps necessary to be prepared!
