This past Saturday, June 26, 2021, Advantage Charter Academy hosted their first Juneteenth Celebration.
Despite the partly cloudy skies and scattered showers, Baker businesses and citizens were out and about supporting one another by selling and buying food, clothes, and other memorabilia in celebration of Juneteenth. There were also tables that dispensed information about their respective services such as the YWCA, Greater First Church-Baptist, Little Dreamers Christian Academy, East Baton Rouge Parish Library, Western & Southern Life, and the East Baton Rouge Parish Head Start Program.
Various businesses with their tables and tents scattered around the parking lot while grills were steaming, blessings the noses of everyone in attendance with fragrant smells of meat. In the photos seen below, Mayor Waites is seen purchasing tea cakes as well as citizens purchasing from the rows of businesses lined up on the parking lot.
A good time was had by all who attended with good music, food, and fun! Smiles, laughs and community were in abundance at Advantage Charter Academy!
