CHA-MAR Enterprises, LLC, located at 14414 Plank Road, was inaugurated into the Baker Chamber of Commerce on May 27, 2021.
Mechelle Marchand-Brumfield, owner of the CHA-MAR Enterprises, LLC. travel agency, opened the ribbon cutting ceremony by thanking the Baker Chamber of Commerce, the Mayor, all those who helped her set up, her Pastor, her past post office workers, and members of the Black Business Network.
She mentioned that through CHA-MAR Enterprises, she was grateful at the chance of black business owners helping and supporting other black business owners. She also gave a small testimony of how she first came to know about the building CHA-MAR Enterprises, LLC now resides in.
13 years ago, she used to lease the left side of the building and had plans of opening a tax business, but due to a falling out with her business partner, her plans fell through before they could start.
As she was dealing with the pandemic and COVID, she started looking for buildings to lease and when she had discovered this one, the address had changed. She wasn't aware that this was the very same building she tried to lease 13 years ago until she walked in and discovered that instead of having one suite, she now has double suites at her disposal.
Mayor Waites also spoke, "It is always a pleasure when new businesses come to Baker through God's plan for this city. We aren't getting corporate businesses but real people who will help this city grow. Pray for all those around us so that we can leave a legacy for our children and this city."
