In accordance with the CDC, it is now mandated that individuals wear masks while on public transport.
- Persons must wear a mask covering both their mouth and nose while traveling on public transportation.
- The operators/drivers of the public transportation (bus, train, airplane, ride shares, and military vehicles) must require all persons onboard to wear masks for the duration of the trip.
- The operators/drivers of the public transportation have been directed to use their best efforts to ensure that any person is wearing a mask with boarding, for the duration of travel, and disembarking.
- Best efforts include:
- boarding only those persons who are wearing a mask
- instructing persons that Federal law requires wearing a mask on public transportation and failure to comply is a violation of Federal law
- monitoring persons aboard who is not wearing a mask and seeking compliance from such persons
- at the earliest opportunity, disembark any person who refuses to comply
- providing persons with prominent and adequate notice to facilitate awareness and compliance of this mandate. if possible, advance notifications on apps, websites, or email, posted signage in multiple languages with illustrations, printing the requirements on transit tickets or other appropriate methods.
