Tuesday night allowed Baker residents to voice their concerns, ideas, and appreciation towards the Mayor's Office, the Police Department, and City Council members alike in a virtual town meeting.
Various participants were placed on the call, each having three minutes to state their case, and a lot was discussed. Concerns about gun violence, broken streetlights, illegally parked cars, safety of cyclists and motorists, and safety as a whole in the city of Baker. Mayor Waites, Chief Dunn of the Police Department as well as Council Members Robert Young, Charles Vincent, and Glenda Bryant reassured their concerned residents by providing definite answers and solutions to those issues.
Community input is invaluable for leaders to make decisions based on the wanton needs of the people. Councilman Young said, "We can't move forward or help you unless you want to help yourself." Being silent is not the key to a safer, better city. Coming together and speaking up about the changes we want to see is the only thing that will #MoveBakerForward.
