Street lights are an important part of our everyday lives that we usually do not pay that much attention to, but there are good reasons to be aware of the street lights in your neighborhood.
Working streetlights in your neighborhood mean safety is increased.
Did you know that street lighting can reduce late-night/early-morning vehicle accidents on average of 35 percent according to USDOT studies?
And did you know that street lighting can reduce criminal activity by approximately 36 percent and reduces overall crimes by approximately 4 percent according to the University of Chicago Crime Lab study conducted in 2019?
Help us brighten your neighborhoods today by tagging and reporting any non-working streetlight and reporting the outage!
It is really simple and only takes a few minutes.
Just place some brightly colored tape on the streetlight in an "X" or wrapped around the pole at eye level. Then contact us!
You can email streetlights@cityofbakerla.com or you can call 225.778.0300 and provide the street name and location of the light, using your address as a reference if you wish, so that the repair can be facilitated.
And just like that you helped brighten your neighborhood and are #MakingBakerSafer!
