Traffic to return to normal configuration following bridge deck restoration work
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 14, 2026) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of a scheduled traffic switch on southbound Interstate 75 in Fayette County as bridge deck restoration work nears completion.
The traffic switch is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 15, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, weather permitting. Work will take place on southbound I-75 between the southern I-75/I-64 split and the bridge over Winchester Road (mile points 109.5 to 111).
Once the traffic switch is complete, the roadway will return to its normal configuration with three southbound travel lanes on I-75 and a full-width merge lane from I-64.
Remaining work will include overnight lane closures for final pavement striping. All traffic impacts will be announced in advance.
Motorists should use extra caution when traveling through the work zone and watch for crews and equipment.
All work and/or closures are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
