Alternating lane closures in place during work
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 25, 2026) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of scheduled rumble strip installation on portions of U.S. 60 and U.S. 421 in Montgomery and Fayette counties.
Work will take place from approximately 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, weather permitting. Alternating lane closures will be in place while crews complete the work.
Montgomery County
On Monday, Sept. 28, crews will install edge line rumble strips on U.S. 60 (Winchester Road) between mile points 1.7 and 3.4, from approximately one-quarter mile before Bent Brook Drive east to Meadow View Drive.
Fayette County
On Tuesday, Sept. 29, crews will install edge line and centerline rumble strips on U.S. 421 (Leestown Road) between mile points 4.0 and 8.1, from Ruffian Way north to just before Browns Mill Road. Work is expected to take approximately two to three days.
Motorists should use extra caution when traveling through the work zones and watch for crews and equipment.
All work/closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
