Lancaster Avenue and Barnes Mill Road will close Thursday evening
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 17, 2026) — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of temporary road closures scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 20, in Madison County for Eastern Kentucky University’s Big E Welcome Walk.
The closures will be in place from 6:30 p.m. until approximately 7:30 p.m.
Lancaster Avenue (KY 52) will be closed between the Eastern Bypass (KY 876) and Crabbe Street. Barnes Mill Road will also be closed between Eastway Drive and Lancaster Avenue.
Traffic control will take place at the following intersections:
Eastern Bypass (KY 876) and Lancaster Avenue (KY 52)
Eastway Drive and Barnes Mill Road
Crabbe Street and Lancaster Avenue (KY 52)
Motorists should use alternate routes and extra caution in the area during the event.
All work and/or closures are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
