I-75 bridge restoration project moves into next phase
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 14, 2026) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of an upcoming traffic switch on Interstate 75 southbound in Fayette County as work continues on the bridge deck restoration project over David Fork of Elkhorn Creek.
Beginning Tuesday night, Aug. 18, crews will shift I-75 southbound traffic into a new configuration between mile points 109.5 and 111. Work will take place from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Once the traffic switch is complete:
- I-75 southbound will reopen to up to three lanes through the project area.
- Traffic merging onto I-75 southbound from I-64 will be shifted to the left before the bridge. The right lane across the bridge will remain closed for continued bridge and barrier work.
Exit 110 (Winchester Road) is expected to reopen to all southbound traffic, weather permitting.
The new traffic configuration is expected to remain in place through the first week of September.
Motorists should use extra caution when traveling through the work zone and watch for signage and crews.
All work and/or closures are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
