Resurfacing Project on Dixie Highway (U.S. 25) in Boone and Kenton Counties to Begin on Monday, July 20
Project will focus on pavement and other improvements along corridor
COVINGTON, Ky. (July 17, 2026) – Resurfacing work along portions of Dixie Highway (U.S. 25) will begin on Monday, July 20 as part of a pavement improvement project for various routes in Boone and Kenton counties.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet project announced last year includes resurfacing, base failure repairs, sidewalk and curb repairs, drainage repairs, and radar detection at signalized intersections to promote safer, smoother travel.
Beginning Monday, July 20, crews will begin milling operations on Dixie Highway from north of Dortha Avenue (10.9 mile point) to the Boone/Kenton County line (11.4 mile point in Boone County), and from the Boone/Kenton County line (4.97 mile point in Kenton County) to north of Hallam Avenue (6.26 mile point).
This work will require various single lane closures from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Weather permitting, paving operations are expected to begin on Thursday, July 23. Milling and paving operations are expected to be completed on Friday, July 31. The project is expected to be completed Friday, Aug. 7.
Base failure repairs, drainage repairs, sidewalk ramp improvements and pedestrian signal improvements and radar detection have already been performed as part of this project to improve safety along the corridor.
While pavement improvements are moving forward, a previously planned roadway reconfiguration from Turfway Road (KY 1017) to northeast of Commonwealth Avenue will not be done at this time.

This work was completed in 2025:
- U.S. 42 from east of Ewing Blvd. (14.5 mile point) to Main Street (U.S. 25) (15.28 mile point).
- Dixie Highway (U.S. 25) from north of Marian Drive (8.13 mile point) to Orphanage Road (KY 371) (8.65 mile point).
Riegler Blacktop, Inc,. is contracted to perform the $1.39 million project on behalf of the Transportation Cabinet.
