Beginning Tuesday, Aug. 26, crews will be performing base failure work on the portion of the project on U.S. 42 in Boone County. This work will be performed between the evening/overnight hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Motorists should expect various single lane closures during these working hours. The work is being performed overnight to mitigate traffic disruptions.

Once base failures have been completed on the section of U.S. 42 in Boone County, crews will shift over to the portion of the project on Dixie Highway north of Marian Drive to Orphanage Road to perform similar work.

Base failure repairs on the other two portions of Dixie Highway in Boone and Kenton counties have not yet been scheduled. KYTC will provide an update on the District 6 Roadshow once those locations have been scheduled.

This project features various roadway improvements in the project area including:

  • Pavement resurfacing
  • Base failure repairs
  • Sidewalk ramp reconstruction in various areas
  • Sidewalk and curb repairs
  • Curb box inlet repairs
  • Radar detection at signalized intersections
  • Installation of signal heads and other various signage

The project also includes a roadway reconfiguration on Dixie Highway from Turfway Road (KY 1017) to northeast of Commonwealth Avenue. KYTC will provide additional details related to this safety improvement at a later date.

Riegler Blacktop INC is contracted to perform the $1,396,568.94 project on behalf of KYTC. The project has an expected completion date of Oct. 31, 2025.
