Nighttime lane closures expected once work begins
LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 2, 2026) — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists that a resurfacing project on U.S. 25 (Robert Martin Bypass) in Madison County is expected to begin soon, weather permitting.
The project was originally scheduled to begin earlier but has been delayed due to emergency flood recovery efforts. Traffic control devices may already be in place. Additional updates will be provided once start date is available.
The project extends along U.S. 25 (Robert Martin Bypass) from KY 52 (Irvine Road) at mile point 16.1 to just south of KY 1156 (Jacks Creek Road) at mile point 20.8.
The project includes:
- Milling and resurfacing the existing roadway.
- Construction of a second left-turn lane from U.S. 25 (Robert Martin Bypass) onto KY 52 (Irvine Road).
Lane closures will occur nightly between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Traffic impacts will be announced in advance as work progresses.
The project is expected to be completed by August 31, 2026.
All work and/or closures are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
