Transportation Cabinet to Hold Public Meeting on July 14 for Proposed Improvements on U.S. 31E (Bardstown Road) in Louisville
Public invited to provide comments on safety and mobility changes
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (June 25, 2026) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) invites citizens to attend an open-house public meeting on Tuesday, July 14, regarding proposed safety and mobility improvements along U.S. 31E (Bardstown Road) between KY 155 (Taylorsville Road) and U.S. 60A (Eastern Parkway) in Louisville.
The project is focused on enhancing safety and accessibility for all roadway users, particularly pedestrians, along one of Louisville's busiest urban corridors. U.S. 31E (Bardstown Road) serves as a major connection between downtown Louisville and the Watterson Expressway (Interstate 264), providing access to numerous residential neighborhoods, businesses, schools and recreational destinations.
The project builds upon safety enhancements implemented in 2022 along Bardstown Road between Eastern Parkway and East Broadway and includes ongoing corridor improvements between Taylorsville Road and Bonnycastle Avenue, a comprehensive safety and operations study, pedestrian access enhancements, and future traffic signal modernization. For more information, visit the project page at: bit.ly/US31EBardstownRoad.
As project development continues, citizens are invited to attend a public meeting on Tuesday, July 14, to review design concepts and provide feedback on proposed improvements. The public meeting will be an open-house event (no formal presentation) from 5 to 7 p.m. at The DePaul School, 1925 Duker Avenue, Louisville, KY 40205. Those who are interested may drop in any time to receive handouts containing information and fill out comment sheets. Representatives from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and the project team will be in attendance to answer questions.
All responses will become part of the official meeting record. Once compiled, the meeting record and supporting documentation will be made available for review and copying only after an Open Records Request has been received and approved. All Open Records Requests must be submitted to the Transportation Cabinet, Office of Legal Services, Transportation Office Building, 200 Metro St, Frankfort, KY 40622, or via kytc.openrecords@ky.gov.
