TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Traffic Shifts Planned for Richmond Road Improvement Project in Fayette County

Alternating lane closures scheduled June 17-18 for concrete median work

LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 16, 2026) —The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of upcoming traffic shifts and alternating lane closures for the Richmond Road Improvement Project in Fayette County.

Traffic shifts and alternating lane closures are scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, and Thursday, June 18, along Richmond Road between mile points 1.4 and 9.2, from Brenda Cowan Elementary School to Yorkshire Boulevard.

Crews will be performing concrete median work as part of the ongoing project.

Lane closures will be in place during the following times:

Outbound Richmond Road

-Alternating lane closures will be in place from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Inbound Richmond Road

-Alternating lane closures will be in place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Motorists should expect delays, reduce speed and use caution while traveling through the work zone. Drivers should watch for signage and personnel in the area.

All work/closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.

District 7 includes: Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford Counties.
