Overnight Lane Closure Scheduled for New Circle Road (KY 4) in Lexington Friday, May 1

Expect delays on New Circle Road eastbound between 12 a.m. - 1 p.m.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 30, 2025) – Construction for the New Circle Road (KY 4) Widening project in Lexington will require a temporary overnight lane closure on New Circle Road eastbound (inner loop) Friday, May 1. The closure will limit vibrations affecting the freshly-poured bridge deck.

Friday, May 1, at 12 a.m., contractors will close a single lane going eastbound on the New Circle inner loop before Old Frankfort Pike (KY 1681) to just after the bridge over Leestown Road (U.S. 421), (mile markers 6.0-7.3). All lanes will reopen by 1 p.m.

  • At 12 a.m., a single lane of New Circle Road going eastbound will close before Old Frankfort Pike (KY 1681) to just after the bridge over Leestown Road (mile markers 6.0-7.3).
  • All lanes will reopen by 1 p.m. Friday afternoon.
  • Delays are possible; please plan accordingly.

The work is part of the New Circle Road widening project. When complete in 2027, the project will increase the capacity and operation of New Circle Road and the Leestown Road interchange, improving safety and travel times in this rapidly-growing area of Lexington. All work/closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.

District 7 includes: Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford Counties.
