Traffic Switch on Combs-Hehl Bridge in Campbell County Scheduled for Thursday Night, Nov. 13

Eastbound repairs are complete, crews will move to westbound next week

COVINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 13, 2025) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of an upcoming traffic switch on the Interstate 275 Combs-Hehl Bridge, which spans the Ohio River between Kentucky and Ohio.

Steel repair work on the eastbound portion of the bridge is now complete, and a traffic switch is needed to restore eastbound lanes to their original configuration. Beginning at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13, the contractor will close a single lane, followed by a double lane closure at 9 p.m. with all lanes scheduled to be opened by 5 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14.

Weather permitting, beginning early next week, crews will shift to the westbound side using a similar traffic plan. KYTC will provide an update once the traffic plan has been approved.

A queue warning system has been installed on both sides of the river to alert motorists of slowed or stopped traffic on or near the bridge. The speed limit has been reduced to 55 mph through the work zone for the duration of the project. Additional lane closures may be required for crane operations and steel plate installation. KYTC will issue updates when those closures are scheduled.

As the project progresses, updates will be shared on the project webpage through the Driving Northern Kentucky Progress site, the District 6 Roadshow, and KYTC District 6 social media accounts.

Project schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
