Update - Project continues for Mt. Sterling in Montgomery County
Sidewalk construction work
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 7, 2025) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists that this news release serves as an update for a scheduled improvement project in Mt. Sterling. The work includes sidewalk reconstruction. Motorists can pass through the work zone. The anticipated completion date for the entire project is Friday, December 19, 2025.
Friday, Nov. 17 through Friday, Dec. 19 – 7 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. weekday work
Main Street/North Maysville Street intersection and Court Street (CS 1006))
- North Maysville Street will be reduced to one lane for approximately 4 weeks
Traffic Control Plan:
- Northbound traffic will remain open throughout the duration of the work.
- Southbound traffic will be closed in the affected area.
- the existing double yellow line will be removed, and drums will be used to guide northbound traffic safely around the work zone.
- cones will be placed as needed to close parking near the work area.
- traffic barricades will be installed in front of the work zone for the Southbound direction
Detour signage will not be posted, advanced warning signs will be placed throughout the surrounding areas to inform drivers in advance of the closure. Additionally, school bus routes will be notified ahead of time to accommodate the change in traffic flow.

Work Schedule:
- Mondays through Saturdays 7 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
All work and/or closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
