KY 2026 in Powell County to be closed beginning Monday, Nov. 17
One-week closure for corrective work on prior project
JACKSON, Ky. – Drivers who use KY 2026 (Pompeii Road) in Clay City in Powell County will need to find an alternate route beginning Monday, Nov. 17. The road will be closed between East Railroad Avenue and Fife Lick Road for corrective grade work on a prior project to elevate the roadway out of the flood plain.
The work is expected to take up to a week to complete, weather permitting. Signs and barricades will be in place to alert motorists of the closure.
No signed detour will be posted, but drivers can use KY 11/KY 15 and KY 2073 as an alternate route to avoid the closure.
Fewer than 400 vehicles use this section of KY 2026 each day.
