Overnight Lane Closure Scheduled for New Circle Road (KY 4) in Lexington Tonight, Monday, Nov. 3 and Thursday, Nov. 6
Expect delays on New Circle Road eastbound between 7 p.m. – 7 a.m.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 3, 2025) – Construction for the New Circle Road (KY 4) Widening project in Lexington will require temporary overnight lane closures on New Circle Road eastbound (inner loop) tonight, Monday, Nov. 3. The closure will repeat Thursday, Nov. 6. The closure is necessary to set up and then remove a crane to remove part of the bridge carrying New Circle Road over Leestown Road.
Tonight at 7 p.m., contractors will close the left lane of New Circle Road eastbound from just after Leestown Road to the railroad bridge (mile markers 7.5-8.2). All lanes will reopen by 7 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4. The same closure will repeat Thursday night and reopen Friday morning.
Monday, Nov. 3 and Thursday, Nov. 6
- Tonight at 7 p.m., the left lane of New Circle Road (KY 4) eastbound will close from just after Leestown Road to the railroad bridge (mile markers 7.5-8.2).
- All lanes will reopen by 7 a.m. Tuesday morning.
- This closure will repeat Thursday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. and reopen by 7 a.m. Friday morning.
- Delays are possible; please plan accordingly.
The work is part of the New Circle Road widening project. When complete in 2027, the project will increase the capacity and operation of New Circle Road and the Leestown Road interchange, improving safety and travel times in this rapidly-growing area of Lexington. All work/closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
