Intersection Safety Improvement Project on U.S. 68 in Metcalfe County Set to Begin
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (Nov. 3, 2025) – An intersection safety improvement project is expected to begin on U.S. 68 in Metcalfe County. The intersection of U.S. 68 and KY 70 will be reconstructed to a new alignment just to the east of the current intersection. Crews will be working off the roadway in the first phase of the project, but lane closures in the area are possible.
Signs and message boards have been installed to inform motorists of the construction. The new alignment will feature safer approaches with better sight distance. The new alignment will be a straighter approach compared to the current curved approaches.
The project is expected to be completed in the winter of 2026. Scotty’s Contracting & Stone LLC was awarded the contract on Sept. 3 in the amount of $2.8 million.
