Overnight Closure Scheduled for Paris Pike (US 68) in Lexington Thursday, Oct. 16
Delays possible on Paris Pike Midnight - 5 a.m.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 15, 2025) – Construction for the I-75 widening project from Paris Pike (US 68) to the Southern Split in Lexington will require a temporary overnight closure of Paris Pike in both directions Thursday, Oct. 16. Motorists should use I-75 as a detour or seek alternate routes. The closure will allow contractors to do concrete work the I-75/I-64 bridge over Paris Pike. Interstate traffic will not be affected.
Beginning Thursday at midnight, contractors will close Paris Pike in both directions under the I-75 bridge. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Tuesday morning. Traffic traveling eastbound – away from Lexington – on Paris Pike will detour via I-75 southbound to Exit 110 (Winchester Road), turn around and re-enter Paris Pike eastbound via Exit 113 (Paris Pike). Traffic traveling westbound – toward Lexington – on Paris Pike will detour via I-75 northbound to Exit 115 (Newtown Pike), where they will turn around and re-enter Paris Pike westbound at Exit 113 (Paris Pike).
Law enforcement will be onsite to direct traffic.
Thursday, Oct. 16
- Thursday at midnight, Paris Pike will close in both directions under the I-75 bridge.
- All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Friday.
- Law enforcement officers will be present at both ramp intersections to detour traffic onto the interstate.
The work is part of the I-75 widening project. When complete in 2026, this project will reduce congestion and improve safety throughout the 2-mile corridor from the Paris Pike exit to the I-75/I-64 Southern Split. It is the second of two projects to widen I-75/I-64 to four lanes each direction in Fayette County. Find more information online at DrivingLexingtonProgress.org.
All work/closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
