TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Construction Progressing on Main Remade Corridor Improvement Project in Downtown Louisville
Reconfiguration of turning lane movements on Clark Memorial Bridge to be implemented this week
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Oct. 1, 2025) – Construction is progressing on the Main Remade corridor project in downtown Louisville, an investment to improve safety and accessibility along one of the city’s busiest business, residential, and tourism routes.
A key feature of the project is the conversion of Main Street from one-way to two-way traffic, making travel simpler and safer for all road users. The first segment of Main Remade, currently underway, includes the complete overhaul of the eastern section from Wenzel Street to Second Street, including the one-way to two-way conversion of the roadway, upgrading traffic signals, enhancing crosswalk delineation and visibility, and creating a parking-protected bike lane.
As part of these highway safety improvements, turning movements at the Clark Memorial Bridge are being reconfigured. The two existing southbound right turn lanes are being removed near the KFC Yum! Center to allow for enhanced pedestrian improvements. In their place, a single right turn lane will be constructed. This change is scheduled to take effect on or after Thursday, Oct. 2. Motorists and pedestrians should adhere to the new traffic pattern and use caution when traveling through the area. Signage will be placed in the area to notify road users of the upcoming changes.
Beyond the eastern section, which is scheduled to be completed by the Spring of 2026, work is also progressing on the one-way to two-way conversions of the central and western portions of Main Street. The corridor from 10th Street to 22nd Street has been resurfaced and converted to two-way traffic. Additional upgrades — including new bike lanes, signal improvements, and enhanced crosswalks — are planned to begin as early as 2026.
