Ongoing Weeknight Single Lane Closures Scheduled for Newtown Pike Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 2
Expect delays on Newtown Pike
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 2, 2025) – Construction for the Newtown Pike (KY 922) Widening project in Lexington will require an ongoing overnight single lane closure Monday-Friday beginning tonight, Tuesday, Sept. 2. The closure will be a single right-lane closure in each direction on Newtown Pike between New Circle Road (KY 4) and I-64/I-75 for pipe work and shoulder widening. The closure will be in effect weeknights until the work is complete.
Each evening, Monday-Friday, beginning at 7 p.m., the right lane in each direction on Newtown Pike will close between New Circle Road (KY 4) and I-75/I-64. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. the following morning.
Beginning Tuesday, September 2
- Each evening beginning at 7 p.m., the right lane in each direction on Newtown Pike will close between New Circle Road (KY 4) to I-64/I-75 (mile markers 1.40-3.40).
- All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. the following morning.
- This closure will repeat Monday-Friday until the work is complete.
- Delays are possible; please plan accordingly.
This work is part of the Newtown Pike (KY 922) widening project. When complete in 2027, this project will add a lane in each direction on Newtown Pike (KY 922) from New Circle Road (KY 4) to I-75, improving safety and traffic flow by increasing capacity to handle current and future traffic volumes. All work/closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
