TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Closure of Old Eastern Parkway in Louisville Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 2

Work begins next week on the U.S. 60A (Eastern Parkway) bridge over S. Floyd Street and S. Brook Street as part of maintenance project

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Aug. 29, 2025) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of the temporary closure of Old Eastern Parkway beginning Tuesday, Sept. 2, as part of a maintenance project for the U.S. 60A (Eastern Parkway) bridge over S. Floyd Street in Louisville.

Old Eastern Parkway, between S. Floyd Street and S. Brook Steet, will be closed beginning Tuesday, Sept. 2, through Monday, Nov. 3. The closure of Old Eastern Parkway is necessary for contract crews to perform concrete work beneath the U.S. 60A (Eastern Parkway) bridge over S. Floyd Street and S. Brook Street. Traffic impacts are not expected to occur on the Eastern Parkway bridge while work is underway.

The bridge maintenance project contract also includes the I-264 (Georgia Davis Powers Expressway) bridge over Garrs Lane at mile point 6.7 in Louisville, and the KY 248 (Briar Ridge Road) bridge over Little Beech Creek at mile point 2.62 in Spencer County. This project will preserve and extend the service life of all three structures.

Intech Contracting, LLC., of Lexington, KY, is completing the work under a $1.9 million project. The project is expected to be completed by the Winter of 2025. Additional details for upcoming work on the remaining two bridges as part of this project will be provided when available.
