Intermittent rolling roadblocks on I-264 and U.S. 42 (Brownsboro Road)
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Aug. 27, 2025) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of blasting operations on Interstate 264 (Watterson Expressway) today, Aug. 27, as part of the $130 million widening and improvement project of I-264 and U.S. 42 (Brownsboro Road).
Blasting operations are scheduled for this afternoon, Wednesday, Aug. 27, at approximately 2 p.m. on I-264 East and West near mile marker 22. To safely complete the work, intermittent rolling roadblocks will be in place on I-264 East and West and on U.S. 42 (Brownsboro Road) near the bridge over I-264. Blasting will occur in the area adjacent to the I-264 East off-ramp to U.S. 42 (Brownsboro Road) at Exit 22.
Intermittent rolling roadblocks will occur daily as crews prepare to widen the interstate. Drivers should expect delays of up to 20 minutes during these operations.
Motorists should use caution, heed signage, and allow extra travel time during the scheduled rolling roadblocks. The highway improvement project is expected to be completed by the Fall of 2027.
