Ramp Closures Planned as I-69 Paving Continues in Madisonville
Project scheduled to be completed by Labor Day
MADISONVILLE, Ky. (August 21, 2025) – A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is nearing the end of interstate improvement project along a 4.3 mile stretch of I-69 through Madisonville. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be concluded prior to Labor Day.
The project has already seen improvements to guardrails and safety features on overpasses, and crews are in the process of resurfacing all 4.3 miles of the route. Work on the southbound fast lane has already been completed.
Motorists should anticipate overnight ramp closures along both the north and southbound lanes in the coming week. Crews plan to close southbound on and off ramps at KY 70 and KY 281 on Friday, August 22 for milling. Northbound ramps will be closed for milling on Sunday, August 24. The southbound ramps will then be paved on Monday, with the northbound ramps being paved on Tuesday.
A 55 mph speed limit remains in effect from the 118.15 mile point (KY 2657/Fowler Road overpass) to the 113.81 mile point (in front of the mall).
