Single Lane Closures on Portion of KY 22 in Grant County Beginning Sunday, Aug. 24

Diamond grinding and roadway improvements scheduled in Dry Ridge

COVINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 21, 2025) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of upcoming single lane closures on a portion of KY 22 in Dry Ridge. Work is scheduled to begin Sunday, Aug. 24, as part of a diamond grinding and roadway improvement project.

Crews will be working on KY 22 between Warsaw Road (KY 467) (10.68 mile point) and U.S. 25 (11.55 mile point), a distance of 0.87 miles.

Work will be completed in phases and will include diamond grinding and grooving of pavement, partial depth pavement repairs, sidewalk and curb work, guardrail replacement, and installation of permanent striping and pavement markers. A new radar detection system will also be added at signalized intersections within the project limits, replacing embedded traffic loops.

Diamond grinding is a high-friction surface treatment that uses aggregates to create a smoother ride, reduce road noise, and improve pavement safety.

Beginning on Sunday, Aug. 24, crews will start with partial depth pavement repairs. This work will require single lane closures during overnight working hours of 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.

After Labor Day, crews will return to begin diamond grinding and other remaining improvements. Overnight lane closures will continue from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., with one lane in each direction maintained at all times. Flaggers will be present when work is occurring in intersections.

Some work items may also occur during non-peak daytime hours. To minimize traffic impacts, any daytime closures will be limited to the western portion of the project. All work requiring lane closures on the eastern portion will take place overnight.

No lane closures will be in place during the Labor Day or Thanksgiving holiday weekends.

Bluegrass Contracting Corporation is contracted to perform the $1.04 million project on behalf of KYTC. The project is expected to be completed by Nov. 30, 2025.

Project schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
