Two Month Closure on Portion of Hands Pike/Waymans Branch Road (KY 3716) in Kenton County Now to Begin Wednesday, Aug. 13
UPDATE: Previously postponed project receives new schedule and completion date
UPDATE (1:50 p.m., Aug. 12, 2025) -- SD1 has provided a new schedule of work and completion date for the sanitary sewer project on Old Hands Pike and Waymans Branch Road (KY 3716). The project is expected to begin Wednesday, Aug. 13. The project is now expected to be completed Monday, Oct. 13.

COVINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 8, 2025) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of a road closure on a portion of Hands Pike/Waymans Branch Road (KY 3716) in Kenton County beginning Monday, Aug. 11. The closure is necessary as part of a sanitary sewer project performed by Sanitary District 1 (SD1).
Crews will block Hands Pike/Waymans Branch Road from Madison Pike (KY 17) (0.0 mile point) to Misty Lane (0.05 mile point), a distance of 0.05 miles. This closure will be in place 24/7 for a two month period.
DETOUR: KY 17 to Hands Pike (KY 1501), turn left onto Madison Pike (KY 3035) and back to Hands Pike/Waymans Branch Road.
This is a permits project approved by KYTC for SD1. Any additional questions related to the project should be directed to officials with SD1. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed Oct. 11, 2025.
