Preventive maintenance project expected to begin Friday, August 15 on U.S. 421 in Clay County

MANCHESTER, Ky. (August 12, 2025) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 11 Office advises motorists that a preventive maintenance project will begin Friday, August 15 on U.S. 421 from mile point 17.969 to 18.817.

The preventive maintenance project will consist of resurfacing the roadway with a thin lift of asphalt and replacing the pavement markings.

Motorists can expect delays overnight between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. daily. Traffic will be controlled by flagging operations when necessary.

The preventive maintenance project is expected to be complete by Thursday, August 28.

KYTC asks motorists to be aware of the work zone, expect delays, and to utilize safe driving habits when traveling through the area.

The date, time, and duration of work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.
