UPDATE: Overnight Closure Scheduled on KY 139/Jefferson Street in Cadiz on Thursday, Aug. 7
Work will be near mile marker 18 in front of Dollar General
PADUCAH, Ky. (Aug. 4, 2025) – A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) will temporarily close a section of KY 139/Jefferson Street in Cadiz on Thursday night, Aug. 7, near the KY 124/Cerulean Road intersection.
Crews plan to install a large pipe on KY 139/Jefferson Street near mile marker 18, in front of the Dollar General store.
The work is scheduled to take place overnight, between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., weather permitting.
Motorists are asked to self-detour. To remain on state-maintained routes, use KY 276 and KY 778.
Please note: KY 124/Cerulean Road remains closed between KY 139 and Line Street for ongoing construction.

PADUCAH, Ky. (July 14, 2025) – A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is planning an extended closure of KY 124/Cerulean Road at its intersection with KY 139/Jefferson Street in Cadiz, starting on Monday, July 21.
Closure of this section of KY 124/Cerulean Road, between KY 139 and Line Street, will allow for the realignment and reconstruction of the KY 139/KY 124 intersection.
The work is expected to take about six weeks, weather permitting.
This phase of the project should not impact traffic on KY 139/Jefferson Street.
The project is part of the state's Six-Year Highway Plan and represents an investment of $872,000. Work includes roadway excavation, intersection realignment and reconstruction, storm water installation and both asphalt and concrete paving.
Jim Smith Contracting is the primary contractor for the project, which is expected to be completed in its entirety by November 15.
