Traffic Alert: Lane Closures and Detours for Polybag Repairs on KY 1862 (Thornton Road) in Letcher County
Road Closed 8AM to 5PM Daily
PIKEVILLE, Ky. (July 31, 2025) –The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 12 advises motorists of upcoming repair work along KY 1862 (Thornton Road) in the Thornton community of Letcher County. Repairs will be conducted at mile point 7.9, approximately 3.9 miles past the Thornton Bridge.
Work Schedule (weather permitting):
- August 4 through August 8
- Work Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily
Traffic Impact: Due to narrow road conditions, equipment and concrete trucks will block the lane during active work hours. Flaggers and barriers will be put in place to control traffic.
Detour: Motorists will need to use KY 931 to KY 15 to detour around the work zone.
