I-264/U.S. 42 Improvement Project Traffic Advisory: Overnight Closure of I-264 East Ramp to I-71 North Beginning Wednesday, July 9
Contract crews to mill and pave ramp
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (July 8, 2025) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of an overnight ramp closure on Interstate 264 East (Watterson Expressway) beginning Wednesday, July 9, in Jefferson County.
The I-264 East ramp to I-71 North will be closed from 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, through 5 a.m. Thursday, July 10. The ramp closure is necessary for contract crews to mill and pave the off-ramp as part of the I-264/U.S. 42 improvement project.
The interstate project is expected to be completed by the Fall of 2027. The work is being carried out by Cleary Construction Inc. of Monroe County, Kentucky. More details, including project timelines and traffic impacts, will be shared online as work progresses. Motorists are encouraged to sign up for email alerts regarding weekly traffic impacts pertaining to the project.
