UPDATE: Road Closures Near Leestown Road End Tuesday, July 1

Leestown Center Way closed; work on Opportunity Way rescheduled, and will be announced

LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 30, 2025) Leestown Center Way is temporarily closed today and will reopen by 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, weather permitting. A previously scheduled closure of Opportunity Way this week has been postponed. The road closures are necessary for construction for the New Circle Road (KY 4) Widening project in Lexington to allow contractors to install drainage pipes.

Beginning at 7 a.m. today, June 30, contractors closed Leestown Center Way at Leestown Road. While Leestown Center Way is closed, drivers can use Opportunity Way for access. On Tuesday, July 1, once the work on Leestown Center Way is completed, it will reopen.

Work on Opportunity Way is being rescheduled, and will be announced.

The work is part of the New Circle Road widening project. When complete in 2027, the project will increase the capacity and operation of New Circle Road and the Leestown Interchange, improving safety and travel times in this rapidly-growing area of Lexington. Find more information online at DrivingLexingtonProgress.org.

All work and/ or closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
