Traffic Advisory: Newtown Pike Blocked at Citation Boulevard in Lexington
Lines, signal down; intersection closed, detour until further notice
LEXINGTON, Ky. (10:30 PM June 26, 2025) – Fallen utility lines have blocked parts of Newtown Pike (KY 922) and Citation Boulevard, and the north Lexington intersection is temporarily closed until further notice for the public's safety. Motorists should seek alternate routes and be prepared to detour through Friday morning.
Currently, Newtown Pike is closed in both directions between Nandino and Aristedes boulevards and all lanes of Citation Boulevard are closed between Bull Lea Road and Newtown Pike after an electric transmission line fell across the roadways and the intersection traffic signals following a storm earlier this evening.
Utility crews are responding. At this time, there is no estimate when the roads can reopen. Police are redirecting local traffic. And state highway crews are placing electronic message boards on I-75 in advance of Exit 115 and on New Circle Road to detour traffic.
Motorists should avoid the area and seek alternate routes. Traffic needing access between downtown Lexington and I-75 can reroute using Paris Pike (US 68) at Exit 113.
Traffic updates are available online at GoKY.ky.gov or via the Waze app.
