TRAFFIC ALERT: US 23 Town Br./BullCreek Project – Traffic Pattern Changes in Effect

Reduced Speeds, Lane Closures and Delays

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (June 02, 2025) As part of ongoing construction on the Town Branch/BullCreek Safety Improvement Project along US 23 in Floyd County, new traffic control measures are now in place to improve safety for both drivers and workers in the area.

Key Changes:

🔸 Speed Limit Reduction – The speed limit through the work zone has been reduced to 45 MPH. Please slow down and stay alert.

🔸 Northbound Lane Closure – US 23 northbound is reduced to one lane between mile points 12.63 and 13.56.

⚠️ NOTE: There is now a stop condition at the bottom of the KY-80 ramp onto US 23 northbound. Please use caution and be prepared to stop.

🔸 Southbound Lane Closure (Temporary) – A short-term southbound lane closure will be in place between MP 13.4 and MP 13.56. This closure will occur at the utility contractors’ discretion and is expected to last a few weeks.

🔸 Increased Law Enforcement Presence

Reminder to All Drivers: Please obey all posted signs, reduce your speed in work zones, and remain alert for workers and equipment.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we continue work on this vital project.
