Work Zone Lane Restrictions Planned Thursday and Friday on I-24 in McCracken and Lyon Counties
Patching work scheduled during daytime and nighttime hours
PADUCAH, Ky. (May 28, 2025) – A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans to implement daytime and nighttime work zone lane restrictions along Interstate 24 in McCracken and Lyon counties on Thursday and Friday, weather permitting.
The work is part of a patching project to prepare sections of I-24 for a larger surfacing effort scheduled for mid-June.
Thursday – I-24 Westbound
During the day Thursday, crews will begin milling in the right-hand lane of I-24 westbound near mile point 14.85 in McCracken County.
Crews will then move to I-24 westbound near the weigh station in Lyon County. Milling work will be in the left-hand lane between mile points 35.6 and 36.33.
Crews will return Thursday night to pave in these same sections.
Friday – I-24 Eastbound (Lyon County only)
On Friday, the work zone shifts to I-24 eastbound in Lyon County. Milling will take place during the day, followed by paving overnight.
Work will be in the left-hand lane between mile points 36.5 and 37.8, or between the weigh station and I-24 Exit 40.
Motorists should be alert and watch for signage and trucks with arrow boards directing traffic to the open lane. Please slow down and use caution when approaching active work areas.
The overall project is expected to be completed by September 30, 2025.
KYTC District 1 will continue to share updates as the project progresses.
