UPDATE: Daytime Lane Restriction Planned Along Interstate 24 in Lyon County Thursday, May 22

PADUCAH, Ky. (May 21, 2025) A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans a daytime lane restriction starting at 8 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, along Interstate 24 in Lyon County to finish sealing cracks in the pavement.

The work zone is between the Cumberland River Bridge and I-24 Exit 45, and has a reduced speed limit of 55 mph.

While the previous sealing work was done at night — this will take place during the day. Please slow down, stay alert, and use caution in the work zone.

This is part of a $9.2 million project to seal and micro-pave sections of Interstates 24 and 69 in KYTC District 1.

All work on this project will be paused over the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Micro-surfacing is expected to begin in approximately 30 days.

The overall project is expected to wrap up by September 30, 2025.

KYTC District 1 will continue to share updates as the project moves forward.
