Slide Repair Project on Richardson Road (KY 1829) in Kenton County Beginning Thursday, April 24

UPDATE: Due to utility coordination and additional repairs, the expected completion date is now Thursday, June 19

UPDATE (May 19, 2025) The completion date for this slide repair project has been pushed back to Thursday, June 19. Crews will be performing more extensive work in the project area than originally planned. This work will ensure longer lasting repairs for the thousands of motorists that use the road every day.

KYTC crews will be coordinating with utility companies on the relocation of several utility poles near the railroad bridge. This will allow our crews to perform additional ditching/drainage operations.

Additionally, the 24/7 road closure remains in place. Homeowners living north of 3517 Richardson Road (including homeowners on Webster Road) will utilize Turkeyfoot Road to Richardson Road to access their homes.

COVINGTON, Ky. (April 23, 2025) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of a slide repair project on Richardson Road (KY 1829) in Kenton County beginning Thursday, April 24.

The project will take place on Richardson Road between Sherbourne Drive (2.72 mile point) and Old Richardson Road (3.98 mile point).

On Thursday, April 24 and Friday, April 25, our Kenton County KYTC maintenance crew will perform mowing and brush clearing operations in the project area. This work will require the road to be blocked to through traffic between the hours of 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. The road will reopen daily by 7 p.m.

Beginning Monday, April 28, our Robertson County KYTC maintenance crew will perform the slide repair portion of the project. This work will require a 24/7 road closure at the 2.9 mile point (east of Sherbourne Drive). Crews will dig out a section of the road and perform a long-term slip repair. Additionally, breaks in the road in the project area will be patched. Tree trimming and ditching will be performed to improve drainage to ensure a longer lasting repair.

Local traffic will have limited access during this portion of the project. Residents living west of 3682 Richardson Road will have access to Richardson Road via Turkeyfoot Road (KY 1303). Residents living on or east of Webster Road will access Richardson Road via Madison Pike (KY 3035).

The slide repair portion of the project is expected to be completed Monday, May 12. Once the slide repair has been completed, the 24/7 road closure will be removed. Maintenance crews will then perform ditching and drainage improvements in the project area. This work will require a daily road closure between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. with the road reopening daily at 7 p.m. KYTC will advise on social media and the District 6 Roadshow when repairs have been completed.
