Bridge Replacement Project on Elliston-Mt. Zion Road (KY 1942) in Grant County Beginning Thursday, May 29

Bridge to be closed during construction; signed detour in place

COVINGTON, Ky. (May 20, 2025) A bridge replacement project on Elliston-Mt. Zion Road (KY 1942) in Grant County is scheduled to begin Thursday, May 29.

The project involves removing the existing bridge deck and beams over Napoleon Branch Creek (mile point 1.76), then setting new beams and constructing a new deck. The updated structure will improve safety and reliability for motorists in the area.

To accommodate the work, the bridge will be closed to traffic during construction beginning Thursday, May 29. A signed detour will be in place to guide motorists around the closure.

Ahead of the bridge work, crews are completing a waterline relocation near the site. Once the new bridge is finished, the detour will be removed and the crossing will reopen to traffic. Additional work will continue throughout the project area following the reopening.

Motorists are encouraged to follow posted signage and use caution in the area.

M & M Services Co Inc. is contracted to perform the $903,723 project on behalf of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. The project is expected to be completed by July 31, 2025.

Project schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
