Traffic modifications planned for Richmond in Madison County
Commencement and Graduation Ceremonies at Eastern KY University
EXINGTON, Ky. (May 15, 2025) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of traffic changes planned for Richmond, Madison County. Commencement and Graduation Ceremonies will be held at Eastern Kentucky University. The events will be held on campus in Alumni Coliseum.
Local law enforcement will be onsite to control the intersection of the Eastern Bypass/KY 876 (milepoint 8.32) and Veterans Boulevard (CR). Changes for the traffic light will be utilized for Lancaster Avenue/KY 52 at the Eastern Bypass (milepoint 8.15) and Roy & Sue Kidd Way (CR) at the Eastern Bypass (milepoint 8.53).
The eastbound turn lane from the Eastern Bypass/KY 876 (milepoint 8.53) onto northbound Roy & Sue Kidd Way (CR) will be closed. Traffic will be congested throughout the day on Friday, May 16, 2025. Priority will be given to emergency vehicles. Motorists should anticipate east and westbound traffic congestion along the Eastern Bypass/KY 876 and side roads.

- 9 a.m. - event begins
- 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. (time is approximate) - event departure with traffic control

All work and/or closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
District 7 includes Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford Counties.
