Cave-in-Rock Ferry Plans to Reopen at 6 a.m. Wednesday, Apr. 23
PADUCAH, Ky. (Apr. 22, 2025) – The Cave-In-Rock Ferry, which has been closed due to high water levels, is scheduled to reopen at 6 a.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, April 23.
After high water receded and KY 91 reopened to traffic this morning, ferry operators began necessary cleanup and repair operations, which are expected to be completed by the end of the day.
The ferry will notify the public of its reopening via their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/CIRFerry.
The Cave-In-Rock Ferry connects KY 91 with IL Route 1 across the Ohio River between Crittenden County, KY, and Hardin County, IL.
The Cave-In-Rock Ferry is operated by an independent contractor with joint funding from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and the Illinois Department of Transportation through a ferry authority.
