KYTC Monitoring Rising Floodwaters on U.S. 60 near Crittenden-Union County Line
U.S. 60 expected to close due to high water on Friday afternoon
PADUCAH, Ky. (Apr. 10, 2025) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is actively monitoring rising water levels along U.S. 60 near mile point 22.5 in Crittenden County, near the Crittenden-Union County line. At this time, water has reached the edge of the roadway.
After reviewing current flood levels, forecasts, and historical data from flooding in 2011, engineers have determined U.S. 60 will remain open TODAY. However, the road is expected to close due to high water on Friday afternoon, April 11.
KY 365, which would serve as a detour for U.S. 60, is also expected to flood and close on Friday, likely between 4 and 7 p.m.
Due to the uncertain nature of flood conditions, the timing of the closures may change. KYTC will continue to monitor the situation and provide a more accurate update by noon on Friday, April 11.
Motorists who live, work, or plan to travel in this area are encouraged to plan ahead for the anticipated closure — the detour is significant:

Marion to Morganfield
- Normal route: 28.6 miles (~36 minutes)
- Detour: 98.3 miles (~1 hour 52 minutes)

Marion to Sturgis
- Normal route: 19.3 miles (~25 minutes)
- Detour: 101 miles (~1 hour 57 minutes)
KYTC will keep U.S. 60 open for as long as it remains safe to do so.
